Dementia Consultancy

Constructive Dialogue have developed particular expertise in designing environments that are supportive to older people, and especially those living with dementia,

This has been a life long passion for MD Nick Seemann and Associate Liz Fuggle who have developed Design Guides, Standards and Audit Tools for the Australian Government, HammondCare and Uniting. Nick and Liz have designed and delivered training on behalf of Dementia Training Australia (Nick heads up the Environments Team there), Stirling’s DSDC, and The Dementia Centre. Check out Nick’s free 4 hour online course on Enabling Environments.

In 2023 they wrote a series of articles for Australian Ageing Agenda on aspects of designing well for older people.

As well as providing traditional architectural design services which inherently incorporate dementia design principles, CDA provide tailored dementia design consultancy for projects at any stage, as well as training and workshop sessions for design teams to create spaces that are both functional and uplifting for those for everyone who lives and works in these spaces.

Nick and Liz were key authors of the National Aged Care Design Principles and Guidelines, published mid 2024. Available for free download - or order a printed copy.

In 2023 we partnered with Dementia Training Australia in the delivery of 6 Aged Care Design Masterclasses in Hobart, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Perth and Melbourne. These highly interactive day-long workshop events unpacked the then draft National Aged Care Design Principles and Guidelines in a practical way.
