Aldersgate residential aged care refurbishment

Location: Lilyfield, NSW (Gadigal Land)

This project involved the redevelopment of an existing aged care facility. The objective of the project was to support a shift in model of care to a small-scale, household approach. The design addressed Dementia Training Australia Design Principles, specifically supporting:
- small scale groups by establishing four households on the site
- daily activities through the provision of accessible-kitchens for residents
- access to the outdoors by increasing and improving access to courtyard, balcony and garden areas
- better perception and orientation
- outings to a wellness centre and club on site
