Residential Aged Care Facility
Client: Holy Family Services
Location: Marayong, NSW (Darug Land)
This new home for 60 people is part of a campus of retirement living, aged care and other community services supporting a community with a high proportion of Polish migrants.
The brief focused on housing forms that would be familiar to the resident population, supporting communal gatherings and meeting the National Aged Care Design Principles and Guidelines. Key elements include:
- supporting residents better accessing outdoor areas (courtyards and gardens on the campus)
- establishing a series of households for smaller groups
- creating domestic, accessible kitchens and other supports to more independent home life
- integrating finishes and landmarks to better support orientation and perception
- concealing service routes along paths that simplify operations and hide institutional life
Construction started on this project in November 2024 and is due to complete early 2026.
